As a young girl growing up in Arizona, some of my favorite memories were spent sitting with my dad and watching the summer monsoon clouds build over the distant mountains. Those afternoons sparked a lifelong fascination with weather that led me to go into meteorology when I joined the Air Force.
This painting is inspired by those memories. Towering clouds rise above the Colorado plains, their dark undersides heavy with rain while brilliant blue skies remain as a contrast above. I have always been drawn to the drama of a building storm. The contrast of light and shadow, the energy in the atmosphere, and the reminder that even the darkest clouds eventually give way to clearer skies.
This 30” x 40” Oil painting is on gallery wrapped canvas with deep edges painted as an extension of the scene.
Sold unframed and ready to hang.
