I was fortunate to paint in Monet’s gardens in 2018 (bucket list item!) and this scene has stayed with me ever since. The intense colors in the sun, the way light filtered through the arched arbors, muting the colors in shadow, and the dappled path leading to the green gate all captured a beauty I knew I wanted to paint. Created from both painting and photo references from that visit, this piece reflects the lasting impression of Giverny and explores the interplay of light, color, and structure that makes Monet’s garden so inspiring.
