I was inspired to paint The Ride Home because it reminds me of my time living in the countryside of Europe and the simple scenes of everyday life I was lucky enough to be immersed in. Autumn was one of my favourite times of year when the shadows in the late afternoon began lengthening and the air held a crispness. I wanted to depict the the calm beauty of a slice of life in the countryside and the fleeting atmosphere of late harvest.
